Jury Duty

I have to say jury duty was very exciting and fortunately for me was just like the movies! I live in a low populated county with very small towns. The court house was a beautiful building built in 1863. The stage was set with the sun shining in through the over sized radius topped windows that lined the courthouse, wonderful paneling on the ceiling, and beautifully carved woodwork. The solicitor, attorney, and judge all had exaggerated southern accents, and the solicitor and defendant got into a dispute! I also had an interesting case... a man tried to infect three cops with the AIDS virus after carjacking. We found him guilty on three counts of assault & battery with the intent to kill & carjacking. Here are the links below to the news articles: http://www.edgefielddaily.com/sheriff021009.html and http://www.edgefielddaily.com/sheriff021109.html. I have to call tonight to see if I have to serve again this week!

Spring in February!

Winter in the south hasn't let us down. My last post was about snow and the weather today was a lovely 75 degrees. Unfortunately I couldn't spend it outside because I have jury duty! I was actually thrilled (as it is my first time) and I was picked for the jury. I am pretty sure I was the only juror happy about it. As far as a house update is concerned, I am afraid we have been doing more socializing than working... but I am ready to get some paint on the walls so we can start the floors. I promise to post some pictures then. Other than that I have been obsessed with the decorating. Who knew my husband could be so opinionated about fabric. We have finally compromised and samples should be on their way soon. (If only I had furniture too.) I have to go get ready to work out now as today is our first day of our new regimen. Our neighbor from across the street, Kevin, is coming over to use the Carranza gym. We are dusting off the machines and actually using them for a change... bathing suit weather is upon us.
