Best Husband Ever!
So as I mentioned in my previous post, I have been craving ice cream and cinnamon buns. I was texting with Kris while he was at work and I wrote "wouldn't it be great if there was a cinnamon bun ice cream?" Never did I imagine that there was such a heavenly treat.... and my wonderful husband went to store after store until he found it. This was the highlight of my day:

Great Doctor Visit
Today we had our 24 week appointment.... and the dreaded glucose test. Now, I have been hearing about this "awful" glucose test on everything from websites to pod casts. What is the big deal? I don't get it. Other than the fact that I was unable to eat after midnight (which to a pregnant woman who is "starving" all day and night - okay that is a big deal) the test was nothing. I drank a larger-than-expected cup of concentrated, flat orange soda (which after 12 hours of not eating or drinking was rather pleasant). So if anyone reading this has to do this in the near future, fear not, but do make sure you get the first appointment of the day.
I am glad to report that mommy and baby (and daddy too) are doing very well. We got an A+ on all of our tests and checks today. My blood pressure is 89/60 (which for a normal person is low, but right on target for this stage in my pregnancy), my weight is ### (really? did you think I would tell?) but I am gaining weight at a textbook perfect pace, my hemoglobin/iron levels look good, and my glucose test came back with an 83 (anything under 142 is good). This is all good news for me because I can continue eating my favorite foods as of late: ice cream, and my newest craving this week, cinnamon buns.
Due to the fact that our video of the sonogram didn't work (well, that's another story) we were lucky enough to get another sonogram today and a new video. Even luckier is that the old video did end up working (no one told me you had to actually click on something other than play to get it to work) so now we have two.
Here is a neat clip from the first one at 16 weeks, 5 days:
And here is a good clip from today's sonogram at 24 weeks, 5 days: In the first part you can see some great facial views & we captured her practicing her swallowing (maybe she was tasting the orange soda) and you can even see her stick her tongue out. In the second part you can see her little feet crossed as she gives me some kicks (she seems to sit just like her momma - always tied up in some sort of knot).
Sofia is 1.6 pounds and around 13 inches long. Her heart rate is great, and she is developing perfectly. We are two very happy parents. I can feel her more & more every day. It was amazing to actually see what the bumps, pokes, and flips are as I was feeling them. We can't believe how fast she is growing, how soon we will get to meet this little person we created, and how much we have left to do!!!!! We are busy worker bees constantly working on the house.... but it will get done! Promise!!!!
My next post will be some long over-due belly shots....

Why I love my cellulite & stretch marks....
Oh my, have I been a bad blogger! I can't believe a month has already gone by. Have I mentioned how amazingly fast and slow time is going by? We have had one appointment since our last posting, but unfortunately no sonogram. In the meantime Kris & I have been very busy trying to finish the house and I have had much fun designing Sofia's nursery!!!!!! We are officially past our half way mark, and I have begun the "countdown". With essentially four months to go, I have been marking off the to-do list and it feels great. Child care selected, signed up for our marathon childbirth classes, glucose test around the corner, hospital pre-registration next Friday, nursery design being implemented... fun, fun, fun!!!
So as I was on my way to a meeting this morning I was reflecting on my latest discoveries... stretch marks and more cellulite!!!! I have mentioned before how hard it is to watch your body transform knowing that it will never quite be the same again. As I was having a "moment", Sofia reminded me why I actually LOVE these marks of motherhood. She kicked me... and kicked me... and kicked me. These weren't the little flutters or bumps I have been feeling for the past few weeks. This time I actually saw a lump pop out on my belly!!!! I was immediately grinning ear to ear, tears shining, and I remembered why a few marks don't matter at all!!!!! My baby is worth it...
Our next appointment is May 24th & we are getting a sonogram (and hopefully a video to post this time too!)
